Dr Deep Lamichhane completed his MBBS from University of Calcutta (2006) and MS (General Surgery, 2011) from National Academy of Medical Sciences. He worked as a registrar/lecturer in Patan hospital for 5 years and went for further training in surgical oncology. He was trained in surgical oncology and GI-HPB surgery at the leading oncology institute, Tata Medical Centre, India for 3 years.
He returned to Nepal, upon completion and is exclusively involved in taking care of cancer patients requiring surgery. He is a member of many oncological society around the globe. He has presented abstracts and papers in national and international conferences and journals and is recipient of awards for scientific contribution. He is a certified laparoscopic surgeon from two Indian laparoscopic societies namely, AMASI and IAGES.
His main areas of interests are gastrointestinal and HPB cancers, breast oncoplasty and reconstructions, salvage surgery for recurrent cancers including exenterations, cytoreductive surgeries for peritoneal cancer, vascular assess for chemotherapy, screening for familial cancers, cancer reconstructions and laparoscopic cancer surgery.
He is involved with the hospital since the inception of surgical services and working continuously for its upliftment to match international benchmark.
