Refer Your Patient to
Nepal's Cancer Specialists

Kathmandu Cancer Center provides multidisciplinary oncology care with the technology and expertise your patients need — without the cost and complexity of referral to India.

How to Refer a Patient

A simple four-step process. Most referrals receive a confirmed appointment within 48 hours.

📋

Share clinical summary

Send us a brief clinical summary — diagnosis or suspected diagnosis, histology if available, current performance status, and any prior treatment history.

📁

Send imaging & reports

Share available investigations: CT/MRI/PET scans, biopsy reports, blood work, and operative notes if applicable. WhatsApp or email accepted.

📅

MDT review & triage

Our multidisciplinary team reviews the case and assigns the appropriate specialist. Urgent cases are triaged for next-day consultation.

Appointment confirmed

A referral coordinator contacts you and your patient directly with a confirmed appointment date, time, and what to bring to the first visit.

Choose Your Preferred Channel

Refer through whichever method is most convenient. All channels are monitored during working hours, WhatsApp around the clock.

WhatsApp

Send clinical summaries, scan images, and biopsy reports directly. Fastest response — typically within 2 hours during working hours.

  • Primary diagnosis or clinical suspicion
  • Histopathology / cytology report (if available)
  • Relevant imaging: CT, MRI, PET-CT, ultrasound
  • ECOG / performance status
  • Prior treatment history (surgery, chemotherapy, RT)
  • Your name, designation, and contact details
  • Urgency — routine, semi-urgent, or urgent

Turnaround Commitments

We acknowledge every referral and strive to confirm an appointment within the following timeframes from receipt of clinical information:

Same day
Oncological emergencies, suspected spinal cord compression, superior vena cava syndrome
24 hours
Urgent cases: rapid deterioration, high tumour burden, impending obstruction
48 hours
Semi-urgent: new diagnosis with planned workup, post-operative referral for adjuvant planning
5 days
Routine: surveillance, second opinion, follow-up, screening query

Times run from receipt of minimum required clinical information during working hours (Sun–Fri, 9am–5pm).

Questions from Referring Doctors

Do I need to register or create an account to refer a patient?
No registration is required. You can refer via WhatsApp, phone, email, or the form on this page — no account or pre-registration needed. For doctors who refer regularly, we can set up a direct line with your dedicated coordinator.
Will I receive feedback on my referred patient's progress?
Yes. With the patient's consent, we share MDT outcome summaries, treatment plans, and discharge notes with the referring clinician. We encourage an ongoing referring relationship and are happy to discuss cases by phone or WhatsApp.
Can I refer a patient who has already started treatment elsewhere?
Absolutely. We regularly see patients who are mid-treatment or seeking a second opinion. Please share all prior treatment records so our team can assess continuity of care, drug sequencing, and radiation planning in the context of what has already been given.
What if my patient cannot afford treatment?
Please refer regardless of financial circumstances. KCC has a social welfare team that can assess eligibility for government schemes (Arogya Kosh, SSDI), institutional subsidies, and charity support. We will not turn away a patient on financial grounds without exploring every assistance option available.
Can KCC provide a second opinion without taking over treatment?
Yes. We offer formal MDT second opinion reviews. The written outcome goes to you and the patient. Treatment can continue at your institution or transfer to KCC — entirely at the patient's and referring doctor's discretion.
Is there a fee for the referral itself?
There is no fee to refer. Patient consultations and investigations are billed at standard KCC rates, which are publicly listed on our website. We do not have a referral fee arrangement with any individual clinician.
