About Dr. Suresh Kayastha
Dr. Suresh Kayastha is a highly skilled gynecologic oncologist specializing in minimally invasive surgical techniques. He completed his MS from the Institute of Medicine (IOM), TUTH, and went on to pursue a specialized fellowship in Gynaecologic Oncology in India.
His clinical practice focuses on the surgical management of gynecological cancers using both open and laparoscopic approaches. He is particularly known for his expertise in laparoscopic hysterectomies and other complex gynae-oncological procedures.
For patients with advanced ovarian cancer involving the peritoneal lining, Dr. Suresh performs Cytoreductive Surgery combined with HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) — heated chemotherapy delivered directly into the abdominal cavity at the time of surgery. PIPAC (Pressurised Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy), a newer minimally invasive approach using laparoscopic ports, is also available at KCC for selected patients. This makes KCC one of very few centres in South Asiaoffering this full spectrum of peritoneal cancer surgery for gynaecological cancers.
Dr. Suresh is committed to providing the latest surgical advancements to his patients in Nepal, ensuring faster recovery times and better clinical outcomes through minimally invasive techniques.

Areas of Expertise
Surgical Procedures Performed at KCC
Minimally invasive removal of the uterus and cervix, or wider excision including surrounding tissues for gynecological cancers.
Reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery compared to open surgery.
Minimally invasive evaluation and tissue sampling for ovarian, endometrial, and cervical cancers to determine precise disease spread.
Accurate oncological staging with minimal surgical morbidity.
Targeted removal of pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes through small incisions for cancer staging and treatment planning.
Low complication rates and precise clearance of regional lymph node stations.
Aggressive surgical debulking to remove all visible tumors throughout the abdomen and pelvis.
Maximum tumor reduction to enhance the effectiveness of subsequent systemic therapies.
Extensive surgical tumor removal combined with heated chemotherapy circulated directly inside the abdominal cavity for ovarian cancer with peritoneal spread.
Jointly performed by surgical oncology and gynecological teams, delivering a treatment that previously required international travel.
Minimally invasive delivery of chemotherapy as a pressurized aerosol through laparoscopic ports for selected peritoneal disease cases.
Provides a targeted treatment option without a large incision for patients not suitable for open CRS plus HIPEC.
Traditional open clearance of the uterus, cervix, parametrium, and upper vagina for cervical cancer.
Excellent local disease control for complex or larger tumors requiring an open approach.
Specialized procedures including radical trachelectomy to remove the cervix while preserving the uterus, or ovarian transposition to move ovaries out of radiation fields.
Preserves reproductive potential in young patients with early-stage gynecological cancers.
