How we decide your treatment
At KCC, we work in a team. Your case is presented to the Multidisciplinary Tumour Board — a weekly meeting of surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists who review your scans, biopsy, and clinical history together.
This is the same standard required at Tata Memorial Hospital, AIIMS, and every major cancer centre in the world. It prevents over-treatment, under-treatment, and the consequences of any single specialist's blind spots. You receive a written treatment plan before treatment starts — no surprises.
Diagnosis confirmed
Biopsy reviewed by KCC pathologist. Staging scans arranged if needed. All on-site.
Tumour board review
Surgeon, oncologist, pathologist, and radiologist review your case together.
Treatment begins
Your whole team is in one place. Coordination happens without you travelling between hospitals.
All Treatment Modalities
Each treatment below has a dedicated page with what to expect session by session, side effect management, and how KCC delivers it differently.
Surgical Oncology
क्यान्सर शल्यक्रिया
Complex oncological resections, organ-preserving surgery, pelvic exenteration, free-flap reconstruction, and HIPEC (hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy) for peritoneal cancers. Trained at Tata Memorial Hospital and AIIMS.
Nepal's dedicated HIPEC programme — peritoneal cancer surgery available in Kathmandu
Radiation Oncology
विकिरण चिकित्सा
Precision Radiotherapy delivered on a dedicated LINAC. Nepal's only centre offering Total Body Irradiation (TBI) for bone marrow transplant conditioning and Total Skin Electron Therapy (TSET) for rare skin lymphomas. Typically 25–35 daily sessions, Monday–Friday.
Nepal's only TBI & TSET centre — unavailable elsewhere in the country
Advanced Radiotherapy
ब्राकिथेरापी
Internal radiotherapy — a sealed radiation source placed directly inside or next to the tumour. KCC operates Nepal's first image-guided brachytherapy (IGBT) programme since 2022. Gynaecological cancers (cervix, endometrium), lip, tongue, skin, and selected liver tumours.
Image-guided brachytherapy (IGBT) — real-time imaging during treatment, published outcomes
किमोथेरापी
IV infusions in a dedicated day ward, or oral regimens taken at home. All major protocols: FLOT, FOLFOX, FOLFIRI, FOLFIRINOX, FLOT, platinum-based, and anthracycline regimens.
