A mammogram is a low-dose breast X-ray that can spot changes long before you'd ever feel a lump. Found early, breast cancer is far easier to treat — and outcomes are significantly better. It's a quick, routine test: most women are in and out within 30 minutes.

A mammogram is the most reliable check, but knowing how your breasts normally look and feel helps you notice changes early. Do this once a month.
Arms at your sides, then raised — check for changes in shape, size, skin texture, or the nipple.
Use the flat pads of your other hand's fingers to feel the breast and armpit area in small circular motions.
Work in a pattern — circles or up-and-down lines — using light, medium, and firm pressure.
With a pillow under your shoulder and arm behind your head, breast tissue spreads more evenly, making it easier to feel.
A lump, thickening, dimpling, nipple change, or discharge that wasn't there before — call us, don't wait for your next scheduled mammogram.
